So it's been a while. Pretty busy here at the branch. Just this week I helped conduct my 1st ever story time with an audience of 2 wonderful little children (I knew we might not have anybody and still it made me nervous as heck but still managed to help it and read a book and danced all the silly dances and did all the little activities. I've been trying to do some research and have found a plethora of good resources from other bloggers that are librarians. Even though I am an Assistant I do plan to go to school to hopefully get a Masters in Library Science. Granted it could very well take a long time. But this blog is dedicated to my journey working in a Library. Its been an eventful month so far. With the elections and with the stalling of the renovation of the branch (its supposed to officially start January 2017. I held off posting the book club lists as we were adjusting them to fit just right.I hope with all the new activities my branch can become more popular.
A template that my boss showed me for story time :::

Happy Halloween!
So many changes at our branch! It can become very overwhelming. But it will only get better. Where we were once cluttered we have cleared up a lot of space slowly this branch is getting prettier and neater. I have the list for our book clubs. Our teen zone club will be called The Hub. We have three book clubs Podcasting, In-B-Tweeners, and Teens-B-Bookin. Super glad that we have an awesome line up. We shall see what the future brings.
Peace Out,
That Library Chick.

As we draw near the end of the year. The Children's Department needs to start looking into the themes for the upcoming Story Time. Ahhhhhhh! Which reminds me on Nov. 21 my branch is going to be hosting an event to teach young kids about Animation and Graphics. No lie I wish they had this kind of stuff back when I was growing up. But I'm glad that the Library now offers all sorts of things.
My manager has already come up with some books for the Podcast, and other book clubs. I believe the first book to be discussed will be Micheal Crichton's Jurassic Park. Which honestly is going to be awesome at least for dinosaurs nerds such as myself. I look forward to this and many more things to come. I know at some point we will discuss Pride, Prejudice and Zombies; though I have yet to read the book or watch the movie I have heard that it was pretty good.
I know I may not have any experience hosting such kind of events but I do look forward to them. I know I will have to reach out to not only the kids for the story time but for the teens. We shall see what the future holds. When I receive the list of the books to be discussed I will post them here. We also plan to watch the movies to each of the books before the PODcast.

Elections Elections Elections
Hello Patrons and fellow Library Staff. As we come to an end of the first week of elections, I can almost breath a sigh of relief. The Library I work at happens to be an Early Voting Site. So we have not just our regular patrons, but voters, campaigners, and poll workers scattered every where. Our children's department is over run with voting equipment and poll workers. Staff have to run in to get books and DVD's for patrons. We have apparently upset the balance as our Desktop computers are also down. But hey we have tablets <,<
But you know what I'm really excited. We recently changed Managers (Granted I adored our previous Branch Manager) Our new manager wants more Programming. As a result I will be helping out with a Story time, and a teen Podcast. (I do hope that we can end up making a Youtube Chanel) I want to try to do puppets and costumes for my story time.
This afternoon I spent it making a craft (Farm Theme) Granted we won't have a Story time til after Elections.
